Anyone can live their dream, so why not you?

About Me

Charlie Perkins is an actor, singer, and director.

They are currently a junior at Long Island University Post Campus, pursuing a BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in acting.

While they were attending high school, they also trained at The Broadway Collective, a rigorous musical theatre academy, where their award-winning coaches and mentors include Jack Sippel (Actor, Choreographer), Kate Lumpkin, CSA (Casting Director), and Robert Hartwell (Broadway Collective Founder and CEO), among others. They also train at Broadway Artists Alliance with teachers such as Alex Brightman (Actor), Tina Marie Casamento (Casting, Producer), and Derek Klena (Actor), among many more. Lastly, they train at Broadway in Santa Cruz, with teachers such as Dan DeLuca, Izzy McCalla, and Caitlin Kinnunen, as well as many others.

Charlie’s most recent project was assistant directing “Men on Boats” by Jacklyn Backhaus for LIU Post. Currently, they are assistant directing one of LIU Post’s annual freshman showcase.s

In high school, Charlie was a part of West Performing Arts’s invitation-only group, “West Ensemble,” where they wrote, directed, and produced a short film called Liar, Liar. This film appeared in West Ensemble’s Surreal Times Festival (Spring 2020). After graduating from the group, a number of former members, including Charlie, came together to create the group “Midsummer Ensemble.” This group put on a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”  (Summer 2022), during which Charlie played Hermia.

Charlie is inspired by a wide range of artists, such as Eva Noblezada, Renee Rapp, Caitlin Kinnunen. Charlie is inspired by these actresses because of their activism, which is very important to Charlie. Charlie gains inspiration from movements like #metoo, trans rights, and many more. They hope to bring representation for kids who don’t see themselves in traditional characters.

Outside of theatre, Charlie is interested in poetry. They have a poem published in their high school literary magazine, Interrobang (Spring 2020). They also won the Bookshop Santa Cruz Young Writers’ contest (Spring 2021). Charlie’s other hobby is nail art. Their favorite set was a recreation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night.

They are thankful for their family, friends, teachers, and mentors for encouraging them to shoot for stars. Charlie lives by the rule that anyone can live their dream, so why not you?
